I think new media is hurting the integrity of journalism. While I do understand that it is much easier for people to find out information on their cell phones, I think it hurts the reputation of journalism. With media technology such as twitter and facebook it is much easier for anybody to become a "journalist." It is like a slap in the face to those who actually went to school to become a journalist. Some random person behind a computer can find things out and tweet them and have a better reputation than someone who goes out to look for stories and is paid for what they are doing. In this environment the inverted pyramid will not be beneficial to the readers because no one has time to sit down and read a newspaper anymore. They have enough time to see a tweet, get informed, and then on break they may go to a blogger site to see what they think about the situation. I am not saying that new media is not helpful, but it is hurting the integrity of journalism.
